Trade Audiovisual Space
Trade | Nottingham
Five years after The Brickworks first opened its doors, the creative team behind one of Nottingham’s most forward-thinking music venues now brings Trade to the city. A new audiovisual space for live music, forward-thinking events & club nights, Trade is Nottingham’s newest venue.
Trade breathes new life into the former industrial unit which covers 4,200sq ft and boasts a brand new vibe for bare-walled basements. The vision for the space was to create a stripped back warehouse feel not unlike The Brickworks, but on a much larger scale for audio visual club nights.
Months on Trade has announced its pioneering music project, Wigflex City Festival and iEffects are proud to have been part of the formation of Trade from the beginning.
Designing and creating a bespoke layout for the lighting, iEffects installed lighting tubes throughout the venue. These pixel mappable LED bars work in grids against the ceiling of the venue to represent an industrial, warehouse feel whilst being able to create patterns for dynamic movement which spreads out across the lighting arrangement.
LED Beam moving heads were also used as well as RGB LED pars to highlight the original tiling where sinks were once positioned in the original building, which was Boots’ first store on Goosegate back in 1849.
Flexible pink neon light strips were also used to highlight the different mesh grids at the entrance of the venue. These strips are controlled in the same was at the lights in venue and can create different patterns dependant on the night or artist.
As there are movable DJ booths within the venue, we placed projectors behind each with screens that run from a media player, allowing for video effects and playback throughout the night.
We had a vision for the lighting install at Trade but after speaking with Chris, he was able to suggest a better option and the end result is the perfect fit for the former industrial space. iEffects always understands what we're looking to achieve and it's a partnership we can count on across our venues.
